Methodology
The basket is a fixed list of staples. Each is matched to a specific product (shown under each line) that we price at Woolworths, Pak'nSave and New World from their own websites, weekly. An item only counts toward the totals when the identical product is matched at all three chains. Prices are from Auckland stores, are up to a week old, and can differ in-store — treat the index as indicative, and always check at the checkout. Media are welcome to cite this index with a link.
