Help test the KAI-ching Android app

KAI-ching compares Woolworths, Pak'nSave and New World prices so you can see where your shop costs least. It's free, with no ads, and it's on its way to Google Play.

I'm publishing it from my personal Google Play developer account, and Google requires new personal accounts to have at least 12 testers stay in a test for 14 days in a row before I can apply to put the app on the Play Store (Google then reviews it). KAI-ching is made by one person in Wellington, so every tester genuinely helps.

Join the tester group

Takes 30 seconds: tap Join group on the next page, using the Google account that's on your Android phone. Opened this from Facebook, Messenger or Instagram? Tap ⋮ and choose Open in Chrome (or "Open in browser") first.

What happens next

  1. Join the tester group (button above) with the same Google account that's on your Android phone.
  2. Wait for my email from "KAI-ching Android testers", usually within a week or two. Check Promotions or Spam if it doesn't show up. The test link will also be posted on this page.
  3. Open the test link on your phone, tap "Become a tester", then install KAI-ching from the Play Store like any other app.
  4. Stay in the test for 14 days. Google counts testers who stay opted in, so please don't leave the group or the test before then (leaving restarts your 14 days). Use the app a few times, the way you normally would: build a trolley, compare stores, or tap ☆ on a product to watch its price. Barcode scanning works best for products Pak'nSave or New World also sell; most Woolworths-only lines don't scan yet.
  5. Tell me what's broken or confusing: reply to any of my test emails or write to hello@kaiching.co.nz. Short and blunt is great.

What you need

On an iPhone? You can't join the Android test, but you can use KAI-ching in Safari right now and add it to your Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen).
